Actually, scoring 50 goals in Richard's day was way harder because they only played 50 games. That's why his 50 goals in 50 games was such a huge accomplishement, and why it is a separate record from "most goals in a season." This way people can see where someone would have been against Richard. Also, it is 50 team games, not 50 games from the player (which made some people miss the 50 in 50 club, because they'd missed games during the season). FYI, Gretzky has the record with 50 in 39.

Look at his patience; in almost EVERY single case he waits for the goalie to make the first move. That's why everything looks so easy for him. He forces the goalie to commit, then puts the puck wherever the goalie isn't. Sure it doesn't look as amazing as scoring from his back with the tip of his stick, but it was consistant. His accuracy is amazing too; can't count how many times he picks the corners on those shots. Even against butterfy goalies many of those would still go in.
