I love this song..and love Glen Campbell. I've been to GALVESTON a number of times, and saw most of the sites in this video: the Bishops Palace, rode the Island ferry, etc......

Thanks for your comment blueticecho. I'm always surprised at the number of people who don't know what this song is about and what ti was like in the 60's and 70's. And thanks for your service!!!

One of the most moving songs ever written and recorded. Unfortunately, this video is a drag and the woman in it didn't fit. As children, imagined a young & free-spririted girl in cutoffs with long hair on the beach, staring at the seaguls with a sweet and innocent face, wondering where her lover was and when/if he would return. Instead we got a 31 year old woman with false eyelashes, a ton of makeup and a beehive hairdo . Courthouse part didn't help, either. Eternal thanks to all those involved.

Jim Webb also wrote McArther Park sung by Richard Harris and others...including Glen Campbell

Fantastic production, the voice, with it's knife - like sharpness, is perfectly embedded in the the track, like Geroge Martins' best work - Beatles, Cilla Black et al. Glen feels it in deep understatement.

Galveston is still a beautiful and great city. We have worked hard to reclaim what Ike took and have done quite a decent job. I think the 300,000+ visitors we have on the island this Memorial Day weekend can attest that Galveston is alive and well. Keep Austin weird but when you want to play, head on down to the Gulf!

Classic and moving song. Glen Campbell has a gifted voice like Elvis Presley's only not as deep tone.
